Delivery Methods
Attendara delivers notifications by email or SMS. Email is free and unlimited. SMS requires prepaid credits and is billed at carrier rates by destination country.
Email notifications are:
- Free — No credit card, no limits, no trial period. Email is always free in Attendara.
- Delivered from Attendara's servers — Sent from a trusted domain with high deliverability. Customers receive emails that look professional even on the free plan.
- HTML supported — Rich formatting, links, and your branding (if you have the Branding add-on) are included.
- Confirmation links work automatically — The
{{CONFIRMLINK}},{{CANCELLINK}}, and{{MANAGEMENTLINK}}variables generate unique, one-use links for each appointment.
SMS
SMS notifications are:
- Pay-as-you-go — You buy SMS credits in advance. Each SMS deducts credits based on the destination country's carrier rate.
- Billed at carrier cost — No markup. Rates vary by country (see the pricing page for current rates).
- Plain text only — HTML is not supported in SMS messages.
- Character limit — Standard SMS is 160 characters. Messages over 160 characters are split into multi-part SMS, each using one credit.
Purchasing SMS credits
- Go to Add-ons in the main navigation.
- Under SMS Credits, choose one of the preset top-up amounts or enter a custom amount in your local currency.
- Complete the payment. Credits are added to your account immediately.
You can enable Auto-recharge to automatically top up your credits when they fall below a threshold. See Billing & Add-ons.
Fallback medium
When creating a notification rule, you can enable a Fallback medium. If the primary delivery method fails — for example, the customer has no email address on file but the rule is set to send by email — Attendara automatically tries the fallback medium (SMS).
Scenarios where fallback activates:
- Rule is set to Email but the customer only has a phone number on file.
- Rule is set to SMS but the customer only has an email address on file.
Delivery tracking
For every notification sent, Attendara records whether delivery was successful. To review the delivery status, open the customer's profile under Customers, expand the relevant appointment row, and check the Communication history. Each entry can be expanded to show the medium, recipient, status, error details, and full message body.
Customer self-service page
Both email and SMS notifications include a personal link. Customers click this link to:
- View their appointment details.
- Confirm or cancel the appointment.
- Update their contact details and preferences.
The self-service page is styled with your branding if you have the Branding add-on active.
