Setup Wizard

Setup Wizard

The Setup Wizard runs the first time you log in and walks you through every setting needed to start sending notifications. You can also reopen individual settings later from the Settings menu.

Step 1 — Welcome & Language

Choose the language Attendara should use for its interface and for the default notification templates. You can change this at any time from Settings → Timezone & Language.

Step 2 — Company Profile

Enter your business details:

  • Company name — Appears in notification templates as {{BUSINESSNAME}}.
  • Company email — Your public contact address; available as {{BUSINESSEMAIL}} in templates.
  • Notification email — The address customers reply to when they respond to a notification.
  • Review link — An optional URL for your review platform, used with the {{REVIEWLINK}} variable.
  • Country — Used to format phone numbers correctly for SMS.
  • Timezone — All notification times are calculated in this timezone.

See Company Profile settings for more details.

Step 3 — Connect Calendar

  1. Click Google Calendar or Microsoft Calendar.
  2. You are redirected to Google or Microsoft to authorise Attendara. Sign in and grant access.
  3. After being returned to the wizard, select which calendar to monitor from the dropdown.
  4. Click Register Calendar. Attendara performs an initial sync, importing existing future appointments.

For detailed instructions see Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook.

Step 4 — Calendar Sync Settings

Configure how confirmed and cancelled appointments appear in your calendar:

  • Colour coding (Google Calendar) — Set a specific colour for confirmed and cancelled events.
  • Category labels (Microsoft Outlook) — Assign Outlook categories to confirmed and cancelled events.
  • Text prefixes — Optionally prepend [Confirmed] or [Cancelled] to the event title.

See Sync Settings for a full explanation.

Step 5 — Notification Rules

Set up the notification rules Attendara should apply when appointments are created or updated. Common starting points include:

  • Confirmation — Sent as soon as the appointment is created.
  • Reminder — Sent 24 hours before the start time.
  • Review Request — Sent shortly after the appointment ends.

You can customise these or add more rules later. See Notification Rules.

Step 6 — Consent & Compliance

Before Attendara can send notifications to your customers, you must confirm that you have a lawful basis to contact them — for example, that they have given consent or that you have a pre-existing business relationship. This step records your confirmation and is required to activate notification sending.

You can review the consent status and re-confirm at any time from Settings → Preferences → Notifications.

Step 7 — All Done

Attendara is now configured. New events added to your connected calendar are picked up automatically — new appointments will appear in the dashboard within a few minutes.
